Gratitude Friday – 21 January 2011

I cannot believe how quickly yet another week has sped by. (Note to self: perhaps if I live more ‘in the moment’, rather than thinking ahead to our house move, time won’t appear to slip by so quickly?)

Here are five things for which I’m stupendously grateful this week:

  • My car being serviced and receiving a clean bill of health – all with a lower bill than I’d been expecting!
  • Hosting the second call in the Your House of Abundance telecourse, all while breathing in the gorgeous scent of some ‘Mary Rose’ (David Austin) roses from my daughter Arabella’s birth rose.
  • My mum and nephew finally making it safely home to Queensland, despite a last-minute flight cancellation and detoured roads home.
  • Being able to help a friend get started on a fantastic book that she’s had the idea to write.
  • Laughing and reading Roald Dahl’s Matilda with my girls, curled up together in bed. (The girls agree that Matilda has simply dreadful parents.)
  • The girls and I meeting my gran, aunt and cousin for lunch on Thursday, and receiving super-big smooshy kisses and hugs from my nearly-four-year-old cousin.

Yeah, that was six instead of five, but who’s counting? I could write a gazillion each week (and so could you!)!

Have a fabulous week – wishing you lots of big smooshy kisses.

Love Makes the World Go Around

I grew up in a town in Queensland, Australia, that was affected by extreme flash flooding recently. I worried for family and friends living there and nearby, and my heart went out to the families who lost loved ones in the waters.

But, as I’ve observed over the years, something positive always comes out of a negative situation, and this time it’s no different.

I totally agree with journalist John Birmingham, who wrote this article about the humanity that’s revealing itself after the disastrous floods in south-east Queensland.

People just want to help. They feel a deep connection with their fellow human beings, a profound empathy for those who are suffering and in need of a hand. They immediately raise their hands and brooms to volunteer, and to donate much-needed money.

We’re all connected. We’re all here to help each other. That’s my belief. Love is at the core of it all.

If you’re like me and aren’t there to help in a hands-on way, please consider making a monetary contribution to help people rebuild their lives.

The Joy of Jacaranda

We’re in the midst of packing up our house, and I’ve been saying goodbyes to much-loved aspects of our current home.

I’ve been out in the garden snapping photos of the beautiful plants that I’m going to miss, the plants and flowers that have made me feel so good.

Our jacaranda tree is in bloom at the moment, and although its blooms are slightly battered after all the rain of recent weeks, it still lifts my spirits to glance upon them.

I hope this photo of our jacaranda’s flowers makes you feel good, too!

Gratitude Friday – 14 January 2011

Woohoo! Great week. As usual, a gazillion things for which I am so grateful (but then, I’m not the only one – you have at least a gazillion, too!).

This week’s round-up:

  • My girls enjoying some great playtime with our neighbour’s children (we’ll be moving house and city soon, so they’re getting in as much playtime as they can with their little friends).
  • Hearing that my sister and Dad (and our friends and their families) were OK in Toowoomba, despite the floods.
  • My mum and nephew staying longer in Melbourne, because of not being able to fly home yet – we get to have more special time with them!
  • The amazing human spirit, with people helping each other out in the floods and in their aftermath.
  • The first call in the fantastic Your House of Abundance teleseries going so well. Can’t wait for next week’s call.

That’s it from me – care to share your gratefuls?

Connection

I just read a fabulous paragraph from Steve Pavlina’s book called Personal Development for Smart People: The Conscious Pursuit of Personal Growth(that’s Steve in the picture above).

Cultivate at least one habit to deepen your experience of oneness. Make a habit of going for long walks in nature. Enjoy prolonged physical contact with someone close to you. Offer hugs instead of handshakes. Smile at strangers you pass on the street. If you make habits of these simple actions, you’ll rarely feel disconnected and alone.

Sigh. Isn’t that just wonderful? I found my smile growing bigger as I read each sentence. Connection (read: love) is what it’s all about.

I hope these pearls of wisdom inspire you to lift your vibration with connection today.

Your House of Abundance

I am so excited. I’ve just come off the phone from speaking with Danielle Storey, a multi-millionaire businesswoman and meditation teacher who’ll be presenting a course that I’m hosting.

We were just finalising the details for Call 1 of the course, which starts tomorrow night (Tuesday 11 January at 8pm Australian EST).

So, what is the course? Oh my goodness – it’s heaven-sent, that’s for sure. It’s called Your House of Abundance: Laying the Foundations for Clarity, Peace & Wealth Through Guided Visualisation, and in this three-part course, Danielle takes us through meditations (ooh, peaceful) and into the creation of our very own imaginary ‘house’. In this house, we get to create whatever it is that we desire (and Danielle helps us get clear on what it is that we really want).

That’s a very simple explanation of what we’ll be doing, but there’s so much more. You’ll fall in love with the process, and will want to keep coming back to your house forever, knowing that it’s helping you create everything you could possibly want.

Would you like to join us? For the full scoop on this course, simply head here:

www.richradiantreal.com/yourhouse

This fantastic course will complement the goals you may have set for yourself for 2011, or for your life in general. But even if you’ve been too fearful to set goals, this course will help give you clarity.

Are you ready to start taking an active, exciting role in the creation of your dreams? Then you must check out this truly profound course:

See you on the calls!

Gratitude Friday – 7 January 2011

A beautifully, blissfully, summery week. As always, I have so very much for which to be grateful! Five of my favourites from this week:

  • A lovely evening out with my mum at Melbourne’s grand old Astor Theatre, seeing the movies The Concert (great memories of my trip to Moscow last year!) and Gainsbourg.
  • Having my happy girls around, as well as my darling hubby – and enjoying a gorgeous afternoon at the beach, with a cool breeze and sunshine glinting off the water.
  • Darren starting to pack house for our imminent move.
  • A lovely day trip to our new home city, checking out properties and soaking up the sunshine.
  • Seeing my grandparents, and gently squeezing my Grandad’s hand.

So many wonderful things happen every day of our lives – do you take time to notice them? Even if you don’t keep a gratitude journal (although I highly recommend it), just taking quiet note of the everyday ’good stuff’, and feeling appreciation for it, will keep changing your life for the better.

Beaming out love to you across the ether…

When Good Energy Gets to Circulate…

…amazing things happen.

We’re moving house this month, and I’m relishing the chance to pull everything out of the cupboards and pack it all up.

‘Why?’, you may ask? Well, I’m excited to see what amazing things happen once we’ve done so!

When we moved house when my girls were babies, I entered a competition on the final weekend of our packing – we were to move house on the Monday. The competition was hosted by the Sunrise morning show in Australia – they wanted people to send in their best money-saving story.

I wrote a pithy (OK, hilarous) entry about when Darren and I had decided to save money. The story was: instead of going out to a cafe for afternoon tea, we bought some cheap jam doughnuts (Darren’s idea – they are revolting) at the supermarket and made up a flask of tea. We then drove to a park (Studley Park, for those of you who are Melbournites), feeling virtuous at how much money we were saving. We sat down at a park bench, and after we started eating and drinking, it started to rain. Just a little. ‘That’s fine,’ we said. We just put up the hoods on our jackets.

But then it started to hail. Sure, it was only delicate hail, but it was hail nonetheless. Everyone else was running for cover, but we decided to sit there, in the hail, laughing hysterically. We put out our cups of tea to catch pieces of hail, to cool the tea down. All very civilised, you see.

So, anyway (long story, short), I emailed in our story and – won. Yep. I was changing Bella’s nappy on the Monday morning, and Darren was feeding Evie (he’d taken the day off work for the house move). He suddenly yelled out, ‘Jo! You’ve won!’ I nearly dropped Bella (sorry, Bell), then carefully lay her down on the rug and did a huge, whooping happy dance. My name and suburb flashed across the TV screen, and one of the hosts, Koshie, looked quizzical, wondering why we would have sat out in a hailstorm (Koshie, this was only Melbourne-sized hail, not Sydney golf-ball hail – however, we did have some whoppers in a storm last year…).

What had we won? Oh, only FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS!

Even though I had been a big believer in feng shui for a few years before, this cemented my beliefs. I just know that it was our ‘moving house’ – the clearing out of old, stagnant energy in our home – that helped bring in and circulate good energy.

The pic above is a copy of the cheque that I received. Darren felt that we should start a ‘competitions won’ folder, and we have gone on to win a few things over the years.

So, I’m keen to see what amazing opportuntities come our way with this next move. We’ve been here 5½ years, so I sense that there will be some major energy shifting going on, despite my recent decluttering.

Do you have any amazing good-energy stories? I hope I’ve inspired you to start ’clearing out the old’ in your home – or perhaps you could even move house?!
