Bottling Love
When you attend amazing events like this (which is where I spent the weekend), it’s a given that you’ll meet beautiful, open-hearted, spiritually aware, talented women.
One such woman is Karen Field – Karen is an artist who hand-paints glass bottles. I couldn’t help but pick up a couple of her creations, knowing that using beautiful utensils (especially for the containment of that which nourishes or hydrates us) helps lift our vibration.
I especially loved the above pink and green bottle, because it features the main colours of Rich Radiant Real! Karen even grabbed her pens and added my business name to the back of the bottle:
The other bottle that I purchased, which is equally striking, features empowering words:
Aren’t they just gorgeous? Imagine using such life-affirming bottles every day, infusing your water with love…
If you’d like to see other bottles that Karen has decorated with her beautiful painting and handwriting (each design is unique), head here to check out her Facebook page. One of these beauties can be winging its way to you in no time.
Just another way to lift our vibe, live with love, and help attract more of ‘the good stuff’ of life!
Looking Good, Feeling Good
You’ve probably heard me say this before, but when you feel good, the ‘good stuff’ of life is attracted to you.
And while feeling good is an inside job (with the thoughts you think and with the nutrition you put into your body temple), looking good on the outside helps boosts those inner feel-good vibes.
If you’re ready to look good, and feel good, and therefore ramp up your attracting power, you’ll love the Little Black Dress makeover event, which starts tomorrow.
You’ll be guided through three teleclasses with my friend Shakaya Leone, of Earth Empress, who will reveal her seven-day, high-raw ‘Beauty Diet’, as well as a host of tips on how to look stunning for a special occasion.
She has generously shared one of the recipes that will feature in the makeover event – Marshmallow Mango Parfait (that’s it in the pic below). Is your mouth watering yet?! Shakaya really knows how to make sensuous, sumptuous food that tastes amazing and is beautiful for your body and soul.
There’s a crazy-low introductory investment in this event, but expect to pay more to join, once the event has started. It begins tomorrow, so click on over and sign up, if this Little Black Dress Makeover event resonates with you.
If you have a special occasion coming up, or you just want to look and feel your very best every day, then you will LOVE this program!
PS I’m a special guest on the second call, and will be helping you to organise your fridge and kitchen – and I’ve provided a wardrobe-decluttering workbook as a bonus when you join the program!
PPS The lady in the black dress in the picture above is Shakaya herself. Yes, this lady walks her talk…
Beautiful High Vibrations
You may well know by now that I’m BIG into ‘choosing natural’.
It’s my belief that a high vibration (which attracts ‘the good stuff of life’) comes from putting good food in and ON your body, as well as by exercising, resting… and all the other ways that I reveal in my freebie e-booklet called 7 Ways to Recharge Your Vibration & Attract the Riches of Life.
I’ve been searching high and low for a ‘natural’ nail polish that would NOT be full of toxic ingredients. (Anything we put on our nails eventually makes its way into our bloodstream, and we breathe in the fumes as we apply it, too…) Finally, I’ve found a range that comes close to achieving this.
The SpaRitual range is vegan, and contains no formaldehyde, toleune or dibutyl phthalate (DBP), and uses recycled materials in its packaging. Isn’t that fab? It may not be COMPLETELY natural, but at least it’s better than the current conventional nail varnishes out there on the market. If you’d like to read more about the harmful nail varnish chemicals you’d want to avoid, check out this FAQ page.
Understandably, this range is not a low price when compared with your usual mainstream, ‘drugstore’ nail varnishes, but it’s competitively priced when compared with higher-end varnishes. I’d highly recommend that you check it out. In Australia head here (they’ll send them out to you in the mail) and in the US head here.
A colleague of mine is currently doing R&D to create a completely natural range of water-based nail varnishes, to complement the rest of her natural skin-care, make-up and haircare range, so when they’re available I’ll test them and will let you know where you can get your (beautifully manicured) hands on those!
Isn’t it great that ‘living naturally’ means we can now add splashes of shine and colour with innovative products like these?
What Will You Give YOURSELF This Christmas?
- Movie vouchers for cinema-loving Aunt Rachel. Check.
- Scrabble tea-towel and new limited edition Scrabble game for Peter’s Mum. Check.
- Cute organic-cotton onesie for new baby Anastasia. Check.
Excellent! Time to dust off our hands and celebrate yet another successful Christmas of choosing thoughtful, meaningful and high-quality gifts for our loved ones.
Hold on. Wait right there. Isn’t there someone you’ve forgotten?
What about you? What are you giving YOURSELF?
If the thought of doing this seems faintly ridiculous, let’s just sit down and have a heart-to-heart chat.
I mean it! Sit yourself down, right now. Put your feet up, even. Take a deep breath, relax and let me enlighten you.
If you celebrate the Christmas season (even if just seeing it as a season for love and giving) then it’s quite possible that you’ve been spending a lot of time lately considering the needs or wants of others.
Bending yourself to fit. Outdoing your own expectations of what you can ‘deliver’ in terms of experiences for others.
If that’s you – how’s that workin’ for ya? (In the immortal words of Dr Phil.)
You may well feel satisfied and full of the goodness of the season, but I bet there’s also a part of you that wishes you’d lavish the same amount of love and care on yourself.
That you could get to Christmas Day without feeling exhausted, run-down and depleted.
You DO deserve to take care of yourself this festive season (in fact, all year round). Not just so that you can serve others better, but so that you feel good! This could be just making sure that YOU make it onto your Christmas shopping list by purchasing something special you’ve had your eye on, or it could be something a little different.
Read on, my friend!
Self-care should be a very high priority for you this month. In case you’re too frazzled to think of a few ways of doing this for yourself, here are my ideas:
- Be OK with sometimes taking the ‘low road’ and giving some time-consuming holiday traditions a miss this year. Replace them with traditions that are easy to implement or that you can ask others to do.
- Actually USE that bath of yours! Fill it with warm water, pour in a fragrant oil, and melt into it. Even if just ONE evening this month, OK?
- Try nine nights of going to bed at 9pm (I call this my ‘nine for nine’). Believe me, you’ll feel as though you’ve been reborn. And it’ll give you the stamina to bounce through the occasional late-night festive event.
- Keep a notepad beside your bed so that you can jot down any ‘to dos’ that crop up while you’re drifting off to sleep.
- Eat really, really well and keep chugging back water. This will help counter the effects of any deep indulging that you choose to do. I mean, wouldn’t you love to feel fabulous, come Christmas Day?
So, there are a few self-care tips that are guaranteed to ease you through the Christmas season with grace and joie de vivre.
But what if you could give yourself some other very special gifts this year? What about the gift of time to contemplate the year that was, and to get excited about 2013? What about the gift of booking yourself into a ‘Create Your Dream Life’ VIP Day with me, to be experienced in January? (Talk about setting yourself up for success!) What about the gift of a phenomenal, unique, supportive decluttering-for-prosperity program that helps you clear your home’s energy and herald in a fresh New Year?
Whatever you do, please give yourself a gift this Christmas. Be it a special wee treat for yourself, be it self-care, be it the gift of time for dreaming or planning, be it a decluttered home… just do it!

Lessons from French Women

I’ve always LOVED France. French people always seem to enjoy themselves, indulging in leisure and beauty every day. And then there’s the sumptuous French accent… j’adore!
A Facebook friend of mine recently posted a link to an article revealing the difference between we goal-oriented, Protestant work ethic countries and the vacation-loving French. There’s so much to learn from the French approach to life (even if you’re not a lover of all things French) – and we don’t need to give up our goals, dreams and successes in order to enjoy our lives to the max.
I approached the author of this beautifully written blog post, Tonya Leigh, and asked her if I could share her wisdom and observations with you. She agreed! (Thank you, Tonya.) So here’s the article. Be sure to let me, or Tonya, know YOUR approach to life. May this give you food for thought.
French Feminine Secret #6: Work to Live
“People who know how to employ themselves always find leisure moments, while those who do nothing are forever in a hurry.”
– Marie Jeanne Roland
I just e-mailed a friend of mine who lives in the South of France, and here is the automated response I received:
Bonjour, je suis en vacances du 28/7 au 26/8.
(Hello, I will be on vacation from July 28 through August 26.)
We can call the French lazy and lacking ambition and drive. However, while we are cranking out 60+ hour weeks, shuttling our kids to the moon and back, stressing our bodies to the max and spiraling into states of depression, they are probably sitting on the beach of Ibiza sipping a Pina Colada (scratch that; the French are not Pina Colada drinkers), and laughing at how we Anglo-Saxons just don’t get it.
French life is centered around quality and pleasure. Excessive work is not pleasurable to the average French woman. So, while the average Anglo-Saxon seems to always be in pursuit of The Next Big Thing, our French sister is likely to be basking in the Big Thing of Now – her morning café, 3-course lunches and, of course, frequent holidays and vacations.
The French woman certainly doesn’t have an arsenal of productivity tools and her time management system seems to nothing more than being present wherever she is. In fact, to the outsider looking in, she seems to have time on her side. Just like us, she has a job, maybe a husband and kids and a home to run. However, you’ll find her reading a book during lunch (that is, if she’s not indulging in a multi-course dejeuner), stopping off at her favorite market on the way home to pick up a fresh baguette and sitting down with her family for dinner.
The French woman doesn’t forget that her life is not her career, just a means to offer her what she’s really after: a life of play and pleasure.
This reminds me of a story I once heard:
A group of French people were working for an American businessman. Every day, they would leave at lunch and wouldn’t return for two hours. The American businessman was frustrated. “We need to be more productive, and your 2 hour lunch breaks are interfering, so tomorrow bring your lunches with you. You’ll be eating on the job.”
The following day, the American businessman was looking forward to increasing his production. At noon, the French workers, having agreed to eating on the job, went to the back of a truck, brought out tables and chairs and covered them with beautiful linen. They placed vases of fresh flowers on each one and set up each place setting. For le menu, they grilled steaks, roasted potatoes and cooked haricot verts. Of course, no French lunch would be complete without a glass of red wine and cheese.
Two hours later, the French finished their lunch and went back to work.
The French woman can thank her country, which has made her seemingly tranquil lifestyle possible. The government has certain laws in place that takes the fear out of job security. The 35-hour work week leaves plenty of time for love and passionate pursuits. And, everyone, from the banker to the plumber, receives 5 weeks of paid vacation, which you’ll never hear a French person say they’re too busy to take. This makes it very easy for the French girl to relax in her life.
Across the ocean, we’ve been raised very differently and afforded opportunities that the average French woman doesn’t have (and for which I’m extremely grateful). We live in a country that allows us to go after our dreams and do work that we love. Not every French woman gets to pursue her passion in the workplace, so thank goodness she has the time off to do it outside of the office.
On the other hand, with our protestant work ethic, we seem to always be in pursuit of something – more happiness, health and wealth – making it extremely difficult to slow down and savor life.
As an entrepreneurial female, I love my work and can get lost in whatever project I’m working on. I adore our clients, so spending time with them is a great pleasure. And, I love the freedom that running my own company affords me, so it doesn’t seem to be a problem.
However, deep down, I know it can be. I can’t fool life, and neither can you. Spending hours on the computer, neglecting our families and home, and most importantly, abandoning ourselves, we forget one key principle: our work is simply a means to live a beautiful life.
After speaking with many of my French girlfriends, I realize that most French people aren’t spending hours on Facebook, perusing books on how to make their life better or pressuring themselves to be, do and have more. Perhaps, it’s because they live in a society where they can’t or maybe they just don’t want to. As my French friend, Catherine, once said, “Life is too short for so much self-induced pressure.”
During my first visit to France, I remember feeling like life suddenly made sense – the way people dined, walked, presented themselves to the world, loved, lived. Beauty and leisure were sought out each day, not when you reached some non-existent finish line. Like the French, time felt like it was on my side. I bottled that feeling and set the intention to recreating that French essence back at home in the States.
Il était difficile pour moi. Being an ambitious and driven woman, I kept getting sucked back into the vortex of working madness. However, over time, I’ve learned to live in my own world where pleasure and play are a priority. I let go of feeling that I was behind when everyone around me seemed to be so far ahead. I stopped caring about what others are doing in their businesses, and focused on what works for me and my life. I even take sabbaticals like the French to renew and revive.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I want to create, grow and inspire. I have desires that I absolutely love seeing come to fruition. However, I do not want to be that girl who never enjoyed what she had because she was always in hot pursuit of the next thing.
Anglo-Saxons have perfected making a living, but the French girl has perfected creating a life!
I want to do both!
In all honesty, I’m still learning what that looks like for me. However, I’ve noticed when everyone is stressed and talking about how busy they are, I pour myself a glass of wine, take a deep breath and remind myself that there is no hurry. Right now is pretty damn good!
What about you?
As always, I want to hear from you. Which side do you air on? Are you more of a Frenchie when it comes to your work life? Or are you the driven, ambitious American woman who’s always striving for the next big thing? Or, maybe you’re a bit of both.

Simple Pleasures Are Often the Best!

I was recently looking for a particular book, when I instead stumbled across a book I’d purchased as a wee gift for myself just after Christmas, from the delightful Mary Ryan bookstore in Toowoomba.
This book, called A Book of Simple Pleasures (by author Leigh Crandall), is balm for a frazzled soul. Or even a not-so-frazzled soul.
The words are beautiful, but it’s the photography that makes me swoon.
Rich, luminous photos of glass bowls of flowers, close-ups of cosy soft furnishings, and panoramas of beautiful settings in nature. Many of the photos focus on the details of domestic pleasures, and invite us to relaaax and sink into sensory pleasure.
Have a look around your home. Is it set up, in a way that’s personal and true to you, to make you feel good?
Is there beauty in your midst?
Do you actively make time to connect with yourself and with others, to create rich experiences?
If you haven’t already read this book, I’d highly recommend it. It’s full of pithy quotes, ideas for easy entertaining or for lifting your mood, and personal anecdotes from contributors.
The ethos of this beautiful book is summed up by one of its contributor’s quotes (Amelia Barr):
It is always the simple that produces the marvellous.
So pare back, and focus on what matters to you and what brings you joy!
Something to Love – Raw Buckinis!
I used to love eating cereal out of a cup.
There, I said it. I confess.
But since pretty much moving away from consuming grains and cow’s milk, I don’t often get the chance to re-live that naughty little snack, unless I purchase a raw muesli (a ‘grawnola’) and have it with nut-milk.
When I was at the health-food store this week I noticed this new product from one of my favourite companies (Loving Earth).
It’s a bag of ’organic activated buckinis’, and I nabbed myself the ‘deluxe’ version.
Let me just reveal the ingredient rundown:
- caramelised buckwheat (agave syrup, mesquite powder, cinnamon, maca powder, Himalayan crystal salt)
- sour cherries
- goji berries
- white mulberries
- cacao nibs
- caramelised pecans
- coconut chips
- Incan berries
Is your mouth watering? Oh, and by the way, buckwheat isn’t actually a type of wheat, and it’s not a grain, either. It’s a type of fruit, and it’s super good for you.
Just before I had my first taste of this, I listened to a WISH Summit call with the beautiful, wise Shakaya Leone of Earth Empress, who reminded us of how wonderful it is to SLOW DOWN and absolutely savour, treasure, each mouthful of food we take.
So I tipped the buckini mix into a small bowl, and doused it with fresh almond milk. And you really don’t need much of a decadent little treat like this – the bowl in the earlier pic is very small (that’s a teaspoon resting in it).
From the very first mouthful, I made sure I savoured the sublime flavours (including the dense, rich flavour of the tiny cacao nibs) and textures (crunchy and chewy), and appreciated just what a luxury it is. Oh my goodness, it was good. Very, very good.
And we all know what feeling very, very good does for one’s vibration, don’t we?!
Do you have ‘something to love’? A little treat that you look forward to every day? (And hey, if it’s a healthy treat, all the better!)
I’d love to hear what it is that you love to treat yourself with. Just leave a comment below.
PS If you live in Australia, I’d recommend trying a Loving Earth product as one of your treats – they’re mostly organic, and taste fabulous.
Who Wants to be Rich, Anyway?

If you speak with the average Joe or Josephine on the street, you’ll pretty soon uncover quite a few beliefs about ‘rich people’.
According to most of us, wealthy people are:
- lucky
- greedy
- stingy
- elitist
- wrecking the planet with their hyper-consumption
- unethical
- unkind
- unloving
- non-deserving
And that’s not the half of it.
Do these beliefs sound familiar? Popular culture loves to vilify rich people through TV, books, movies, online media… there was even a fun series of ads that aired here in Australia a few years ago, mocking the stereotype of rich ladies.
So, if you say you want more money, but you believe these things to be true about rich people, then why on Earth would you want to be rich?
An interesting discussion point here is: what does being rich mean to you? Does it just mean having enough money for your immediate and future needs and wants, and money to share? How do YOU define ‘rich’?
If we turn to dictionaries, ‘rich’ is defined as having a great deal of money or assets. This implies that to be rich is to have substantially more money or assets than is normal.
I believe there’s consciousness shift happening around the world, with more and more of us realising that money can be used for good, and that rich people can actually be GOOD people.
So even if your current radar is tuned to seeing the negative traits of some rich people, you can choose to turn your focus to rich people who are doing good in the world.
What about Oprah? What about Richard Branson? What about Anne McKevitt? What about Bill Gates?
Even if you don’t always agree with the way Oprah, Richard, Anne and Bill spend their money, their intentions are great and they’ve positively affected the lives of millions of people.
And you can choose to be one of those people who does do good with money. Hey, why not?
As a rich person, you can choose to be:
- caring
- generous
- compassionate
- kind to the planet
- ethical
- warm
- kind
- loving
Isn’t it exciting to think that we can be part of a new paradigm, a community of rich people who inspire and uplift, who are decent human beings, and who know how to use the energy of money to best effect for people and the planet?
(Although, there have always been rich people who’ve given back and helped others… it’s just that we don’t always choose to notice them.)
YOU get to decide what sort of rich person you’re going to be. You don’t have to conform to any stereotypes – you can choose to live authentically and use money as a tool.
Remember, there are just as many greedy, stingy and unkind poor or middle-class people in the world – we just buy into the myth of poverty being somehow more righteous and upstanding.
You can help the world a whole lot more when you have access to money, and your own quality of life can be enhanced by having money – and that’s OK. You’re allowed to enjoy your life.
But listen, I, too, have concerns about hyper-consumption and its effects (I’ve even created a decluttering program to help you shed items that you don’t really need!). I know we need to care for the Earth, but I also see so many brilliant people coming up with inventions and processes that help neutralise our carbon footprint and, in fact, give back to the planet.
So I think we can enjoy material items and travel, as long as we’re giving back to the planet and aren’t looking for happiness through hyper-consumption.
In the end, our meaning in life comes from connection and love, and our relationships with people will always win out over material possessions and external experiences.
So, do you know what kind of rich person are you going to be?
Leave a comment and let me know!
Larking Around this Christmas
Yes, yes, I know it’s only just under two months until Christmas, but you know I like to plan ahead!
If you’re like me, you’ll be very excited to know that Australia’s Lark online store has just revealed its ‘Christmas Store’ – with lots of gorgeous little Christmassy bits and bobs to brighten your home or to give as gifts.
I’m not full-on into all things ‘vintage’, but I love the nostalgia I feel whenever I pop into the Lark online store. There’s also a REAL Lark store in the sweet town of Daylesford, and my girls just loved browsing in there last time we visited. (Their excitement generated lots of knowing smiles from other mums in the store.)
I bet your mum or gran would love it, too!
So, grab yourself a cuppa and head over to the site to immerse yourself in loveliness…
Note: Allison and the team at Lark deliver within Australia, but they also ship overseas. So if you’re outside Australia, you can still snap up a gorgeous thing or two.
