8 Ways to Actually Receive Your Goals in 2013

For those of us who like things organised into neat, orderly packages, there’s something special about being able to ‘contain’ our goals within the span of a year.
We get excited at the start of a crisp new year when we can say, ‘this year I will…’ or ‘this year I will not…’. And, at the time, we really mean it.
But please raise your hand if you’ve heard the depressing statistics revealing that most people fall off their resolution wagon before the end of January.
Don’t let that happen to you this year.
I’m going to give you eight golden tips that reveal how you CAN receive the goals you set for yourself.
But, you’ll ‘actually’ need to apply the tips! The word ‘actually’ features a lot here — you may already know a lot of these tips, but do you ‘actually’ apply them? (The act of ‘application’ could be the thing that makes all the difference for you this year.)
Here we go…
1. Actually realise that you’re worth it.
To quote Desiderata: ‘You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here’. You really are worthy. Believing this is at the core of your ‘receiving’ success. If self-worth is an issue for you (and it is for many, many people), then ‘actually’ spend time doing inner healing work.
2. Actually write down your goals.
This is a biggie. If you’re a self-development junkie you probably already know the anecdote about the Harvard grads who wrote down their goals being a gazillion times more likely to achieve them than those grads who didn’t write them down.
Writing down your goals takes them a step closer to arriving in material form. It really works. Have courage, and actually do it!
(Check out Jack Canfield’s fab book The Success Principles(TM): How to Get from Where You Are to Where You Want to Be for goal-writing tips.)
3. Actually make a commitment and stick to it.
Look, resistance is GOING to show up. Just expect it, face it, thank it and then push on through it. You already know that long-term change is going to be a bit uncomfortable. Or even a lot uncomfortable, for a while. But if you make a commitment and then actually stick to it, come hell or high water, you can’t help but succeed. Cultivating a high ‘EQ’ helps – see Daniel Goleman’s seminal work on this, called Emotional Intelligence: 10th Anniversary Edition; Why It Can Matter More Than IQ.
4. Actually practise extreme self-care.
As advocated by life coach extraordinaire Cheryl Richardson (this concept is also known as ‘exquisite self-care’, the latter being a term coined by Earth Empress Shakaya Leone). If you know you need more rest time, more reflection time, more yoga time, more nutritious food and more healthy boundary-setting, then actually make that happen. Again, you ARE worth it. How are you going to have the energy to take action towards your goals if you’re burned out?
5. Actually keep a gratitude journal.
Please do this. It makes such a difference to your vibration. Be inspired by my blog’s Gratitude Friday (or Saturday, or Sunday) posts, and gently begin to cultivate gratitude as part of your everyday life, in your regular self-talk. When you’re honestly appreciative of all that you have, watch the magic begin — even more ‘good stuff’ (including opportunities to receive your goals) starts to show up.
6. Actually create a vision board.
For many years I was afraid to create a vision board (also known as a dream board – but you can always create a booklet or scrapbook, instead), because I thought I’d feel crushed if I put my dreams out there in my field of vision and they didn’t come true. But I can’t tell you what amazing things happened once I finally got over my fear and actually created my first vision board.
7. Actually measure your progress.
This sounds a bit linear and boring, but it really works. And it can be hugely motivating. I recently gave up all forms of sugar for a period of time (including all fruit, which was a challenge), and every Sunday morning I recorded my weight and body measurements. I didn’t have a particular weight-loss or health goal, because it really was just a curious journey to see what effect sugar had on my body. But measuring results helped keep me on my sugar-free track, and spurred me on when I saw real progress being made. Sure, measuring takes a little discipline, but the payoffs are huge.
8. Actually declutter your home and workspace.
It’s such a relief to declutter even a small area. If clutter is a problem for you, actually make time this month to create headway. Positive energy will soon fill the space, and you really will find that doors will open at every turn when it comes to the other goals you’ve set for yourself. Head here for help, at a limited-time reduced investment.
So, there you have it. Eight golden tips. Will you ‘actually’ apply them? Will you ‘actually’ do what it takes to receive your goals this year? (I think it helps to start thinking of yourself as an ‘implementor’, as someone who just gets on it with it.)
The difference between a person who receives their goals and a person who doesn’t comes down to the simple (but not always easy) act of taking action, even when their resistance is strong.
You are bigger than your resistance, and I know you can do this. I want to hear all about your successes at the end of the year, OK?!

International Raw Food Day

Eating food that’s ALIVE is so good for you – did you know that?
Fresh, raw food has a high vibration, and when you consume it, it helps you raise your vibration, too.
I mean, really: look at the pic above. Doesn’t it make you feel good just looking at those colourful, vibrant foods? And wouldn’t it be great to glow like the girl in the pic, too? Raw foods can help you do that!
If you’re new to the whole concept of raw food and health, you might be interested to know that today is International Raw Food Day, with the benefits of raw food (including its taste) are being celebrated and promoted around the world.

How to Bring Back Your ‘Bubbly’!

You know, sometimes life can seem pretty darn hard.
Everything can be going along swimmingly, and then you realise you feel completely overwhelmed. Or you have a few disappointments, and you start spiralling down into a real slump, finding it hugely difficult to summon the energy and enthusiasm to get back on track.
So, how can you bring back your ‘bubbly’? Your sparkle, your fizz, your joie de vivre?
Just wait it out and hope things will get better? Or summon up the strength to start taking positive action?
Well, you can bet that I’d recommend taking action! Yep, waiting has its virtues, but taking action will make things happen waaay faster.
Here are three powerful ideas to help you ‘course correct’, and start an upward spiral that puts you back on track. These have helped me, and I hope they help you, too.
1. Start with your health.
Often, we get stuck in a rut because we’re exhausted and overwhelmed (this has happened for me more times than I care to remember). All we really need is more sleep, more water, fewer junk foods and a bit of a breather from the number of activities or obligations we’ve taken on. So, let’s do that!
To avoid feeling that implementing healthier, empowering habits is going to add to your overwhelm, try a ‘just for seven days’ commitment – do one small, positive ‘thing’ for your health for just seven days. Believe me, you’ll notice the difference, and you may well be ‘on a roll’ and want to continue with this fabulous, healthy new habit.
2. Become all ‘Scarlett O’Hara’ and think of tomorrow as a brand new day. (Because it is.)
You don’t need to live a ‘groundhog day’ type of existence. Every day has the potential to be fantastic, even if, from where you are now, you can’t even imagine that.
Tomorrow, as soon as you open your eyes, smile and think to yourself: ‘today is going to be a good day, and I’m going to look for evidence of that!’.
Oh, a word of warning. When you do this, you may well notice that your usual ‘programming’ pops up to sabotage you. After all, your subconscious mind wants to keep you safe, and if you’re trying to implement change (even if it’s positive), it may be fiercely resistant. Just thank your subconscious for protecting you, but swallow hard and keep acting as though you absolutely expect positive results.
3. Gain a fresh perspective.
This is so effective. I even find that this technique works when I’m struggling to go to sleep (I’m a ‘night owl’ by nature, so if I haven’t done sufficient winding down before bedtime, I find it difficult to get to sleep). I sometimes notice that I’m lying on one side of my body, going over and over the things I want to remember, analysing situations… it’s exhausting, and keeps my mind spinning!
So, when that happens, I remind myself that I can change perspective and break the loop. I roll over onto my other side, jot down notes that I want to remember, and let myself recognise that I’ve chosen to break the cycle. Lying on this new side, I can start afresh and choose to start relaxing my body and mind.
When it comes to getting back your ‘bubbly’ and feeling positive about life, what if you went for a drive in the country? What if you lay down on the floor (or sat on a hill, surveying what’s below you) and thought about your life from that perspective? What if you did your grocery shopping in a different store? Or started your day with a slightly different routine?
My friend, it’s going to take a bit of a ‘push’ to get over a hump. Be gentle with yourself, but very firm. Your happiness depends on it!
If you’ve been stuck in a slump, I hope that just one of these ideas propels you back along the track to ‘bubbly’!
Note: if you try all of the above and still can’t bring yourself to a state of positivity, you might well need the help of a counsellor or psychologist. Or if you’re utterly, physically exhausted and can’t seem to regain your energy, take yourself off for a health check – see a doctor, or a natural health practitioner (such as Dr Ritamarie Loscalzo, at www.drritamarie.com).
Goddess Playshop Bliss
On Sunday afternoon, I gave myself some decadent ‘me-time’, and met with fellow goddesses at a Goddess Playshop. What a treat.
I won’t tell you too much about what took place (just in case you should ever want to be part of a Goddess Playshop yourself), but I can tell you that I am feeling incredible!
I knew a little about chakras before attending the playshop, but we explored the concept more there, and as I drove home I really felt the difference in my wellbeing (a feeling that I still carry with me). The peaceful, loving, supportive energy of our facilitators (and sisters) Luanne and Michelle, and the other women attending, was utterly blissful. (You may remember Luanne from the Rich Radiant Real teleseminar I hosted this month, called ‘The Goddess in You’.)
And, oh, the location – beautiful Gaia’s Garden in the Melbourne suburb of Kew. I adore the space that Trisha Szirom has created, an absolute haven. In fact, I’ve been looking for inspirational, private spaces in which to hold exciting VIP days with clients, and I think Gaia’s Garden is just perfect. What’s a VIP day, I hear you ask? I’ll tell you more about this very special concept soon, but let’s just say that it’s a day just for you, a day where I help you explore what a dream life means to you, and we then work/play together to create a dynamic plan to help you reach that dream life sooner than you think (all while living – and revelling – in the now!). But I digress…
My afternoon of ‘me time’ was just what I needed, and I feel restored, and so grateful for the experience. Apart from the beautiful gift bags each goddess received to take home, we were able to indulge in some goddess-like retail therapy with pampering and inspirational goodies. Just look at the photo above, showcasing the products available on the day – the rich rainbow of colours, the soothing scents of high-quality aromatherapy oils (you’ll need to use your imagintion for that), the energy of love radiating from everything on that table. Gorgeous.
Right, I’m about to sail off to bed, all set for a blissful night’s sleep. I intend on keeping this sublime feeling of peace with me for a long time to come! Thank you so much to my goddess sisters who attended the event…
